What Do Vaser Lipo Scars Look Like?

Vaser liposuction is a minimally-invasive procedure to target stubborn fat cells. Naturally, most patients want to know what to expect from Vaser lipo scars. Most cosmetic procedures result in scarring, so it’s understandable that you might be concerned. Let’s dive into Vaser lipo scars and what to expect.

Does Vaser Liposuction Leave Scars?

Like other forms of liposuction, Vaser liposuction targets stubborn fat, but the process is different. Vaser uses ultrasound technology to liquefy fat cells before suctioning them out of the body. While Vaser liposuction is less invasive than a tummy tuck or a mummy makeover, it still leaves behind a scar. The scar’s depth and visibility depend on factors like how much fat was removed and whether an expert surgeon carried out the procedure. Any procedure that makes an incision will leave a scar, no matter what.

What Does a Vaser Liposuction Scar Look Like?

Vaser liposuction scars are minimal, ranging from 3-6mm generally. Although you will have a scar as an incision has been made, scarring is typically minimal, as you can see in the image below. Over time, it can even be tricky to spot scarring.

Immediately after the procedure, you’ll have scars around the liposuction area which can appear red and irritated. After a few weeks, the scars should have begun fading and be less noticeable as you apply the recommended ointments. 4 weeks after Vaser lipo treatment, you may start enjoying the true benefits of your Vaser lipo treatment.

It’s important to note that Vaser liposuction scars are likely to be more noticeable with darker skin. Choosing an expert plastic surgeon is a crucial step in creating the results that you want. An expert surgeon understands the human anatomy and the latest methods to create concealed and well-hidden scarring.

At the same time, while scarring is normal after Vaser liposuction, the scars will be less noticeable if you follow your doctor’s post-operative instructions. Instructions like applying post-operative salves and ointments are meant to prevent scar deepening.

How Can You Get Rid of Vaser Liposuction Scars?

Here are ways you can optimise your scars to ensure that they are less visible:

  • Follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions, like avoiding strenuous activities that may strain the incisions and direct sun exposure while you recover.
  • Drink plenty of fluids during recovery to maintain the moisture of your skin, which will go a long way during the early phase of scar healing. A well-hydrated skin fades more effectively to a colour that matches the surrounding skin.
  • Vaser lipo scars may still be noticeable once the skin heals. To improve their appearance, consider applying silicone gel sheets over the incisions.
  • Scars improve without any active treatment over the next couple of years. For some, that timeframe is too long. Consider scar revision treatments like microneedling and laser scar revision in that case.
