Exercise After Vaser Liposuction: Here’s What You Need to Know

Vaser liposuction is a popular procedure to target stubborn fat. But, it’s important to remember that any type of liposuction is not a weight-loss tool. Liposuction won’t prevent you from gaining weight in the future. Instead, it’s crucial that you adopt a healthy lifestyle which means eating a healthy diet and regularly exercising. Keep reading to find out when you can exercise after Vaser liposuction.

What is Vaser Liposuction?

Vaser liposuction is a liposuction technique that uses ultrasound technology to break up, liquefy, and remove fat from the body. Vaser stands for ‘’Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance’. This type of liposuction removes body fat with minimal damage to the surrounding tissues and cells.

You can also use Vaser liposuction to optimise certain areas. For example, for sculpted abs, you can use Vaser liposuction in abdominal etching. It’s a highly targeted procedure that focuses on creating definition and chiselled abs.

How Long Does it Take to Recover from Vaser Liposuction?

In comparison to traditional liposuction, the recovery for Vaser liposuction is faster because it’s gentler on the body. Recovery for Vaser liposuction takes about 6 weeks. But after about 2 weeks, most patients resume normal activities.

In most cases, you can get back to your daily life in a few days. Most patients benefit from taking a couple of days off work following the procedure. While there’s still some swelling to be expected, the procedure is minimally invasive. As much as you may feel back to normal, it’s still important to take it easy while your body heals.

Vaser liposuction is a much less invasive procedure, so you can expect smaller scars compared to traditional liposuction. A skilled surgeon should be able to make stealthy incisions that heal well after your treatment. While you can’t avoid scarring altogether with an incision, Vaser liposuction scars should be very small.

How Long Do You Wear a Compression Garment After Vaser Lipo?

You have to wear a special compression garment that will continue to help reshape your body throughout your recovery. You will likely wear a compression garment for between 2-6 weeks. While you may feel back to your normal self by this time, the compression helps to produce optimal results, reduce swelling, and gives your body time to adapt to its new contours.

With traditional liposuction, you would expect to wear a compression garment for longer. In general, recovery is shorter with Vaser lipo as there’s much less trauma to the surrounding areas.

Exercise After Vaser Liposuction

When it comes to resuming exercise after Vaser liposuction, the main piece of advice to follow is to take it slow. With any type of cosmetic procedure, it’s easy to get ahead of yourself as you can’t wait to get back to the gym to maintain your results. It’s tempting to train too intensely. While it’s great to start exercising after Vaser liposuction, take it slow.

Can I Exercise 4 Weeks After Vaser Liposuction?

Depending on your recovery and how you feel, most patients can exercise after 4 weeks. You will be wearing a compression garment full-time for 3 weeks before wearing it part-time for another 3 weeks, so your movement may feel restricted.

Although you should be able to exercise after 4 weeks, start slower than normal and drop your intensity by about 25%. This applies to all types of exercise. Whether it’s resistance training or running, you should be dropping your usual intensity.

Typically, you would be able to resume a walking program after a couple of weeks. But you would need to save the more vigorous exercise until at least week 4. Your doctor will guide you on when to resume exercise based on your personal recovery.

The area targeted, and the amount of fat will also play a role in how quickly you can resume exercise. Someone having multiple areas targeted will likely need a little longer than a patient having a small amount of Vaser in one area.

Gradually increase your intensity over several weeks as you continue to regain strength and feel back to normal. It’s unlikely that you could affect your liposuction results by exercising too hard. But if you do feel uncomfortable, it’s probably your body telling you that you’re going too heavy.

If you find that you have more than mild swelling at this point, this is another sign that you’re overdoing it. Always listen to your body and ease back into exercise. You will be back to your normal workout routine in no time.

While you should be taking it easy following your procedure, it’s still important to get moving. With Vaser lipo, you can go home the same day. A gentle walk around the garden or movement every few hours. Lying in bed for too long can put you at a higher risk of developing blood clots. Whether you’re having liposuction or breast augmentation, it’s important to get moving and walk around after your surgery.

Maintaining Your Vaser Liposuction Results with Regular Exercise and a Healthy Diet

Regular exercise and a healthy diet will help you to keep a stable weight and maintain your results in the long run. By integrating exercise into your routine, you can look and feel your best.

Liposuction of any kind doesn’t make you immune to the effects of weight gain. If you’re considering Vaser lipo or cosmetic surgery, in general, it’s important to commit to a healthy lifestyle. Not smoking, regular exercise, and following a healthy diet will help you to maintain your cosmetic surgery results for years to come.

When talking about exercising after Vaser liposuction, it’s crucial to understand that everyone heals differently. So, while one patient could begin to exercise at 4 weeks, another patient may need to take longer to rest. While recovery tends to take on a general timeline, the way your body heals is unique.
